Battle of the Universe
By Matthew Kalliman
Matthew 4:1-11; Mark 1:12-14; Luke 4:1-13; Hebrews 4:14-16
CHORUS
The Son of God became the Son of Man
The Battle of the Universe began
And at the end, when all was said and done
The Victory of History was won!
When Jesus came from Jordan, after He had been baptized
He faced the worst temptations that the devil had devised
But when the scene was over, He never compromised
And the Victory of History was won!
After Jesus fasted forty days, with hunger few have known
The devil said, “If you’re God’s Son, make bread come from this stone”
But Jesus answered, “Man is not to live by bread alone”
And the Victory of History was won!
CHORUS
The devil said to Jesus, “If you will worship me
The kingdoms of the world I’ll give to you, I guarantee
Their power and their glory are delivered unto me
I can give them if I choose to anyone”
But after Jesus looked at all the kingdoms He was shown
His mind could not be shaken nor His will be overthrown
He said that it was written, "You must worship God alone"
And the Victory of History was won!
CHORUS
From the time that Cain killed Abel, goodness died while evil spread
But death could not hold Jesus, and He rose back from the dead
Now good can conquer evil till it fills the world instead
’Cause the Victory of History was won!
He went back to His Father, and God did let Him in
’Cause He was tempted every way like us, but without sin
And if He lives within us, we can grow to be like Him
’Cause the Victory of History was won!
