Doctrine One
GOD AND CHRIST HAVE ALWAYS EXISTED
God the Father and Jesus Christ
existed throughout eternity, before all else.
God created all things through Christ.
existed throughout eternity, before all else.
God created all things through Christ.
ALL THINGS WERE CREATED BY GOD THROUGH JESUS CHRIST
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made. . . .
"He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him. . . .
"And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us."
(John 1:1-3, 10, 14)
" . . . God, who created all things through Jesus Christ. . . ."
(Ephesians 3:9)
"For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. . . ."
(Colossians 1:16)
" . . . His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds. . . ."
(Hebrews 1:2)
" . . . for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live."
(I Corinthians 8:6)
"Do not be afraid, I am the First and the Last. I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore."
(Revelation 1:17-18)
"These things says the First and the Last, who was dead, and came to life. . . ."
(Revelation 2:8)
" . . . I am the Root and the Offspring of David. . . ."
(Revelation 22:16)
Jesus was Melchizedek:
" . . . priest of the Most High God . . . king of righteousness . . . king of peace . . . without father, without mother, without genealogy, having neither beginning of days nor end of life, but made like the Son of God, remains a priest continually."
(Hebrews 7:1-3)
Jesus was the God who spoke to Moses at the burning bush:
"Jesus said to them, 'Most assuredly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I AM.'"
(John 8:58; see Exodus 3:14)
Christ was the God of Moses; the God of Israel; the YHVH (Yahweh, Jehovah) of the Old Testament:
"For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ. . . .
" . . . nor let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents."
(I Corinthians 10:4, 9 -- compare verses 1-12 with Deuteronomy 32 and Hebrews 11:24-26)
"By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter, choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt. . . ."
(Hebrews 11:24-26)
"that at that time you were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel. . . ."
(Ephesians 2:12 -- Christ was the God of Israel)
Jesus spoke to Paul from within the temple, just as God had spoken to Moses, Samuel, Isaiah and others during the Old Testament period, again demonstrating that Jesus was the God of the Old Testament:
"Now it happened when I returned to Jerusalem and was praying in the temple, that I was in a trance and saw Him saying to me, 'Make haste and get out of Jerusalem quickly, for they will not receive your testimony concerning Me.' "
(Acts 22:17-18)

(Revelation 13:8)
" . . . who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow. . . ."
(Philippians 2:6-10)
"Therefore He says, 'When He ascended" [in Acts 1] "on high, He led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men.' (Now this, 'He ascended,' what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? He who descended is the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.)"
(Ephesians 4:8-10)
"No one has ascended to heaven but He who came down from heaven, that is, the Son of Man who is in heaven."
(John 3:13)
"That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, concerning the Word of Life -- the Life was manifested, and we have seen, and bear witness, and declare to you that eternal life which was with the Father and was manifested unto us. . . ."

In Revelation 5:13; 6:16 and 7:10, the Godhead consists of 1) One "who sits on the throne" and 2) "the Lamb." (See also Colossians 3:1.)
