There is a great purpose being worked out here below.  God is creating a New Heaven and Earth over the course of six millennial days of human history.

​During the Seventh Millennial Day the earth will be a perfect, finished creation -- the way it was intended to be from the beginning (Genesis 1:31); the way it would have remained if Adam and Eve had partaken of the Tree of Life.
