THE SEVEN MILLENNIAL DAYS OF HUMAN HISTORY
CHAPTER SIX
The Sixth Millennial Day
We who are alive today are uniquely privileged to be able to look back and scan the first six millennial days as they near completion. We can see that the greatest changes in history have begun to occur in our time. Man has been given "dominion over the earth" in the form of modern technology and scientific advancement which would astound anyone from previous ages if they could be brought back to life and see the world as it is now.
In a relatively short period of time, man has progressed from "the horse and buggy age" to the modern age of technological wonder. He travels freely through the earth by land, sea and air (Daniel 12:4). It is no coincidence that God gave man "dominion over . . . the sea, . . . the air, and . . . all the earth" (Genesis 1:26) on the sixth day of Creation -- "the day of man." (God has not yet given man dominion over outer space, which has remained barren and lifeless since the rebellion of one-third of the angels and resultant "war in heaven" (Revelation 12:7-9), although man has traveled to the moon and back and continues to try to conquer space on his own, without God's approval. Mankind's Incredible Human Potential does include, in due time, being given dominion over the vast universe, and the restoration of life to all planets -- just as God originally gave Adam and Eve dominion over the earth.) The First Millennial Day -- The Seventh Millennial Day

What is Man?
(Psalm 8)
(Psalm 8)
Today communication barriers have been broken and nothing is being restrained from man to accomplish, as in Genesis 11:1-9. The world, however, under Satan's influence, has become a "modern Babylon" of confusion destined to fall and be replaced by a New World governed by God through Jesus Christ (Daniel 2:44; Acts 3:21; Revelation 11:15; 14:8; 16:19; 17:5; 18:2; 21:5).
Mr. Herbert W. Armstrong wrote,
Mr. Herbert W. Armstrong wrote,
"I travel to all parts of the world as an ambassador (without political portfolio) for WORLD PEACE. I discuss world problems, evils and world peace with many heads of governments -- kings, presidents, prime ministers and those high in the government, leaders in science, education, commerce and industry. . . .
"Most world leaders are of superior ability. Yet, they are utterly unable to abolish world evils or bring about world peace.
"Many scientists and leaders say that the only hope for world peace is the formation of a supreme WORLD GOVERNMENT, controlling the world's sole military power. Yet in the same breath they admit the utter impossibility of this, claiming that such supreme world power in human hands would enslave us all! . . .
"I have been privileged to announce to many of the world's 'great and near-great' this world's only hope -- SURE HOPE -- to occur in our time!"
-- Herbert W. Armstrong, "The Incredible Human Potential"
Chapter XIII, "World Peace -- How it Will Come"
World history is rushing toward its climax. All biblical prophecy will be fulfilled (Luke 21:22; Matthew 5:17-18; 24:35). The fulfillment of The Days of Trumpets and Atonement has already begun (Revelation 7:1-3; 8:2-6; II Peter 3:3-13; I Thessalonians 5:1-3). We are exhorted to be watching and ready at all times (Mark 13:37; Luke 12:35-40). The Days of Trumpets and Atonement -- End-Time Countdown
Jesus Christ, the Son of Man, will be given dominion over the earth at His return:
Jesus Christ, the Son of Man, will be given dominion over the earth at His return:
"I was watching in the night visions,
And behold, One like the Son of Man,
Coming with the clouds of heaven!
He came to the Ancient of Days [Acts 1:9-11; 3:21],
And they brought Him near before Him [Revelation 5],
Then to Him was given dominion and glory and a kingdom,
That all peoples, nations, and languages should serve Him.
His dominion is an everlasting dominion,
Which shall not pass away,
And His kingdom the one
Which shall not be destroyed."
(Daniel 7:13-14)
"Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him. . . ."
(Revelation 1:7)
"Then the seventh angel sounded: And there were loud voices in heaven, saying, 'The kingdoms of this world have become the kingdoms of our Lord and of His Christ, and He shall reign forever and ever!' "
(Revelation 11:15)
"And the Lord shall be King over all the earth."
(Zechariah 14:9)
Marriage of Christ and the Church
At the time of Christ's Second Coming the Saints will be resurrected and given immortality (I Corinthians 15:50-54; Revelation 20:4-6). They will share dominion over the earth with Him (I Corinthians 6:2). It is significant that God characterizes the relationship between Christ and the Church as a marriage:
At the time of Christ's Second Coming the Saints will be resurrected and given immortality (I Corinthians 15:50-54; Revelation 20:4-6). They will share dominion over the earth with Him (I Corinthians 6:2). It is significant that God characterizes the relationship between Christ and the Church as a marriage:
" 'Let us be glad and rejoice, and give Him glory, for the marriage of the Lamb has come, and His wife has made herself ready.' And to her it was granted to be arrayed in fine linen, clean and bright, for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints. Then he said unto me, 'Write: "Blessed are those who are called to the marriage supper of the Lamb!" ' And he said unto me, 'These are the true sayings of God.' "
(Revelation 19:7-9)
"The Bride of Christ (Ephesians 5:30-32; Revelation 19:7-9) consists of all the Saints from every age who will be gathered together and made immortal at the Second Coming of Christ -- one body with many members (I Corinthians 12:12-14; 15:50-55; I Thessalonians 4:15-18; II Thessalonians 2:1-2; Hebrews 12:22-24).
"She includes the Old Testament Prophets and the New Testament Apostles who wrote the Bible (Luke 13:28; Ephesians 2:19-22), and has been commissioned by Christ to deliver God's Message to the world before the end of the age (Matthew 24:14; 28:18-20; Revelation 10:5-11)."
-- Teachings of the Bible
Ephesians 5:22-32 shows that Christ and the Church are even now in a husband-wife relationship:
"For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church. . . ."
(Verse 23)
"Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her. . . ."
(Verse 25)
"For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church."
(Verses 31-32)
The present relationship of Christ and the Church is actually that of a bride and groom expecting to be married. In the Bible, a young man and woman were betrothed before they were fully married. During the betrothal period the couple did not live together, but were reckoned as bound, or promised to one another as husband and wife (Matthew 1:18-25; Deuteronomy 22:22-29). Christ and the Church are presently betrothed. Paul wrote,
"For I have betrothed you to one husband, that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ."
(II Corinthians 11:2)
Betrothal is a beautiful custom given to Israel by God and being used by Christ today. It gives a young couple time to grow together in unity and harmony before living together.
Christ is preparing for marriage right now, upon the Sixth Millennial Day. He earnestly wants to help His betrothed wife, the Church, prepare for the marriage. He loves His bride and is willing to do anything to help her (Hebrews 4:14-16; John 14:13-14). She must seek Him diligently and allow Him to lead her, learning to walk together with Him in unity (Isaiah 55:6-9; Matthew 6:33; Luke 11:9-13; Hebrews 11:6; Romans 8:14; Amos 3:3; Genesis 5:22, 24; 6:9; 17:1).
The seventh and final trumpet (Leviticus 23:24) pictures the Second Coming of Christ and His marriage to the Church (I Corinthians 15:22-23, 51-52; I Thessalonians 4:16; Revelation 11:15; 19:7-9). The Saints shall be made immortal at that time and will share dominion over the earth with Him, assisting Christ in governing the nations (Revelation 2:26-27; 5:10; 20:6).
This climax of all history is foreshadowed by God's final, supreme act upon the sixth day -- the very pinnacle of Creation -- a marriage; a husband and wife given dominion over the earth:

This climax of all history is foreshadowed by God's final, supreme act upon the sixth day -- the very pinnacle of Creation -- a marriage; a husband and wife given dominion over the earth:
"Then God said, 'Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.' So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, 'Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.' "
(Genesis 1:26-28)
God and Christ Made a Husband and Wife In Their Own Image
Notice that God said "Let Us" in the Scripture quoted above. There were two God beings present (John 1:1-3). Those two God beings created two human beings in THEIR own image! God and The Word (Jesus Christ -- John 1:14) may be understood to be in the relationship pictured by the image they created of themselves, that of a husband and a wife. Doctrine Two
Do not misunderstand. There is no male or female, no gender or sex, in heaven (Matthew 22:23-30; Luke 20:34-35). Yet, God does picture the eternal relationship between Christ and the Church by marriage, and God and The Word did make a married couple -- two beings -- in Their own image. God the Father builds His Family through Jesus Christ (Ephesians 3:9; John 1:3; Hebrews 2:13{b}), just as a human father (in the image of God) builds his family through his wife. In I Corinthians 11:3, God is the head of Christ in the same way that a man is the head of his wife, and as Christ is the head of the Church (Ephesians 5:23).
Every married man in God's Church is in a dual relationship -- he is one spirit with Christ (I Corinthians 6:17, 19-20), and one flesh with his wife (I Corinthians 6:16, 7:2-5). He is married to Christ spiritually, and married to his wife humanly. He is under Christ's authority, and over his wife and children in authority (I Corinthians 11:3; I Timothy 3:4-5). This dual relationship of a human husband in God's Church is identical to that of Christ Himself, who functions under the Father's authority, and over God's entire creation (I Corinthians 15:24-28; Matthew 28:18; Philippians 2:8-11).
God made human marriage and family life in order to teach lessons of supreme importance. He wants His children to learn how to function together in love and harmony. A father's authority is the "glue" that holds the family together. God's Government is the key to maintaining peace, happiness and order throughout the whole family in heaven and earth:

A father's authority is the "glue" that holds the family together. God's Government is the key to maintaining peace, happiness and order throughout the whole family in heaven and earth:
"For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, from whom the whole family in heaven and earth is named. . . ."
(Ephesians 3:14-15)
In the context of our modern liberal era of ever-declining family values and changing social mores, it would be appropriate in this discussion to include some Scriptures which remind us that God is the potter and we are the clay, along with other Sacred Texts, remembering that all Scripture was given by inspiration of God (II Timothy 3:16):
"The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom,
And the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding."
(Proverbs 9:10)
"Surely you have things turned around!
Shall the potter be esteemed as the clay;
For shall the thing made say of him who made it,
'He did not make me'?
Or shall the thing formed say of him who formed it,
'He has no understanding'? "
(Isaiah 29:16)
"Woe to him who strives with his Maker! . . . Shall the clay say to him who forms it, 'What are you making?' Woe to him who says to his father, 'What are you begetting?' Or to the woman, 'What have you brought forth?' "
(Isaiah 45:9-10)
But now, O Lord,
You are our Father;
We are the clay, and You our potter;
And all we are the work of Your hand."
(Isaiah 64:8)
"Will the thing formed say to him who formed it, 'Why have you made me like this?' Does not the potter have power over the clay. . . ?
(Romans 9:20-21)
" . . . a man indeed ought not to cover his head, since he is the image and glory of God, but woman is the glory of man. For man is not from woman, but woman from man. Nor was man created for the woman, but woman for the man. For this reason the woman ought to have a symbol of authority on her head. . . .
"Does not even nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a dishonor to him? But if a woman has long hair, it is a glory to her, for her hair is given to her for a covering."
(I Corinthians 11:7-10, 14-15)
"THE VIRTUOUS WIFE
"Who can find a virtuous wife?
For her worth is far above rubies.
The heart of her husband safely trusts her;
So he will have no lack of gain.
She does him good and not evil
All the days of her life.
She seeks wool and flax,
And willingly works with her hands.
She is like the merchant ships,
She brings her food from afar.
She also rises while it is yet night,
And provides food for her household,
And a portion for her maidservants.
She considers a field and buys it;
From her profits she plants a vineyard.
She girds herself with strength,
And strengthens her arms.
She perceives that her merchandise is good,
And her lamp does not go out by night.
She stretches out her hands to the distaff,
And her hand holds the spindle.
She extends her hand to the poor,
Yes, she reaches out her hands to the needy.
She is not afraid of snow for her household,
For all her household is clothed with scarlet.
She makes tapestry for herself;
Her clothing is fine linen and purple.
Her husband is known in the gates,
When he sits among the elders of the land.
She makes linen garments and sells them.
And supplies sashes for the merchants.
Strength and honor are her clothing;
She shall rejoice in time to come.
She opens her mouth with wisdom,
And on her tongue is the law of kindness.
She watches over the ways of her household,
And does not eat the bread of idleness.
Her children rise up and call her blessed;
Her husband also, and he praises her:
'Many daughters have done well,
But you excel them all.'
Charm is deceitful and beauty is passing,
But a woman who fears the Lord, she shall be praised.
Give her of the fruit of her hands,
And let her own works praise her in the gates."
(Proverbs 31:10-31)
" . . . speak the things which are proper for sound doctrine: that the older men be sober, reverent, temperate, sound in faith, in love, in patience; the older women likewise, that they be reverent in behavior, not slanderers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things -- that they admonish the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be discreet, chaste, homemakers, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be blasphemed."
(Titus 2:1-5)
"Wives, likewise be submissive to your own husbands, that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the conduct of their wives, when they observe your chaste conduct accompanied by fear. Do not let your adornment be merely outward -- arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel -- rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of God. For in this manner, in former times, the holy women who trusted in God also adorned themselves, being submissive to their own husbands, as Sarah obeyed Abraham, calling him lord, whose daughters you are if you do good and are not afraid with any terror.
"Husbands, likewise, dwell with them with understanding, giving honor to the wife, as to the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life, that your prayers may not be hindered."
(I Peter 3:1-7)
" 'For this reason a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh.' This is a great mystery, but I speak concerning Christ and the church. Nevertheless let each one of you in particular so love his own wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband."
(Ephesians 5:31-33)
We can draw several conclusions from God's creative act on the sixth day when He said, "Let Us make man in Our image":
First, we may conclude that there are two beings in the Godhead (not one, or three), because there were two human beings created that day. Doctrine Two
Second, we can see that human marriage pictures the Godhead (not only the close relationship between God and Christ, but also the fact that they are "being fruitful and multiplying," expanding their family through man). Doctrine Three

God Wants a Family
Family Values
Third, the fact that Christ marries the Church shows that man can become equal with God, as 1) Christ is equal with God (Philippians 2:6); and 2) the wife was made equal to her husband on the sixth day of Creation. This shows man's staggering potential to be elevated to the very God-plane (I John 3:2; Philippians 3:21; Matthew 13:43; Revelation 1:14, 16). The woman was made from the man -- the same material, his flesh and bone -- and together they became "one flesh" (Genesis 2:23-24; Ephesians 5:31-32.). Jesus said to the Father,
" . . . that they also may be one in Us . . . just as We are one. . . ."
(John 17:21-22)
God and Christ are already one. Christ and the Church are becoming one in marriage.
And fourth, we may conclude that the chronological time frame in human history for the Second Coming of Christ, His marriage to the Church, and the establishment of the Kingdom of God on earth is at or near the end of the Sixth Millennial Day.
After the Second Coming of Christ (Revelation 19:11-21) Satan will be removed from the earth and the nations will no longer be held captive by him (Revelation 20:1-3). The Days of Trumpets and Atonement
At the end of the Sixth Millennial Day God will be able to look upon the earth and see that everything He has made is very good, as in Genesis 1:31:
