The Lord's Anointed King
By Matthew Kalliman
Psalm 2; Acts 2:29-31; 4:25-28; 13:33; Romans 1:1-4; Hebrews 1:5; 5:5; Revelation 2:26-27; 11:15; 19:15
Why have all the nations flown into a rage?
They’ve imagined such a foolish thing!
Leaders of the world are making plans to wage
War against the Lord’s anointed King
It’s a great mistake that they’re going to make
I will declare the decree
Let this be a warning now to all the world
That the Lord has said to Me,
CHORUS
"You’re My Son, the anointed King
You’ve been begotten today
You will rule over everything
And the nations must obey!"
Gathering their forces they are heard to say,
“We will fight and never be restrained
Let us break their bonds and cast them far away
We will not be ruled, bound or chained!”
But the Lord will laugh and rebuke them in wrath
Power and might in His voice
Saying, “On this holy mountain of Jerusalem
Sits the King of My own choice!”
CHORUS
"Ask Me and I’ll give you all who dare oppose
Like a potter’s vessel they’ll be dashed
Broken into pieces shall be all your foes
With a rod of iron they’ll be smashed!"
So be wise and fear, all you kings far and near
Honor the Lord and His Son
If His anger kindles you will be consumed
When the fire is just begun!
CHORUS
Why have all the nations flown into a rage?
They’ve imagined such a foolish thing!
