The Family Tree
(The Forest Will Endure)

By Matthew Kalliman
Colossians 3:18-21
Oh, the forest is great
       Many trees on its estate
They are proud, they are tall
They are never going to fall
And our country is great
       Many people we create
Like a forest are we
And the family like a tree

Now, the father is the basis of it all
Like a tree trunk, strong and sure
And he holds up the rest, and his branches will be blessed
       And the forest will endure

Oh, the forest is great
       Many trees on its estate
They are proud, they are tall
They are never going to fall
And our country is great
       Many people we create
Like a forest are we
And the family like a tree

Now, the mother’s like the branches of the tree
       She is lovely and secure
And she’s held up in place ’cause she’s on a solid base
       And the forest will endure

Oh, the forest is great
       Many trees on its estate
Like a forest are we
And the family like a tree

And the children are the good fruit of the tree
They grow healthy, sweet and pure
And the love of the tree makes a fruitful family
       And the forest will endure

But see the undernourished fruit
Fallen off and lost its root
See the branches on the ground
       Simply scattered all around
See the tree trunks all alone
With no branches of their own
If we wither and decay
Then we'll all be blown away
And the forest will be gone

Oh, the forest is great
       Many trees on its estate
They are proud, they are tall
They are never going to fall
And our country is great
       Many people we create
Like a forest are we
And the family like a tree

When the forest starts to wither and decay
Let the doctor find a cure
Let’s become healthy trees and restore our families
       So the forest will endure
