The Royal Law
(The Golden Rule)

By Matthew Kalliman
James 2:8-12; Matthew 5:48; 7:12; Romans 6:23; I John 3:4
You have heard "the wages of sin is death"
And "sin is the transgression of the law"
Get to know the standard God has set
That we should keep, if we’re to be without flaw:
"Love your neighbor as yourself"
Do you know that that’s The Royal Law?

CHORUS
Do you keep The Royal Law, and keep it every day?
"Love your neighbor as yourself," ’cause that’s the royal way!
       Perfection is the lofty goal
Keep the law and keep it whole
"Love your neighbor as yourself," ’cause that’s the royal law!

If you kept the whole law perfectly
But failed in one point, then you'd transgress His Will
God said, "You must not commit adultery"
And He said also, "You must never kill"
Likewise, realize this applies also
To The Royal Law that you are to fulfill

CHORUS

If you think that you have never sinned
You don’t know what you are thinking of
“Be ye perfect,” that’s what Jesus said,
“As your Father is perfect up above”
We must all be growing stronger
Don’t forget The Royal Law of love

CHORUS

Love your neighbor as yourself, ’cause that’s The Royal Law!
